Land-locked Workshop

After 30 years living on a boat, being able to spread out on land can sure feel good.  For the past 5 or so years, Warren and I have spent more and more time off our boat and at our "villa" in Bali.  We have a workshop and a few helpers and we are truly blessed to call this wonderful slice of paradise "home".  Here are a few photos of us working in the workshop.

We have always spent time with natives on our adventures around the world, learning many things from them that Western cultures cannot offer.  We have learned techniques for carving shell, bone, and coconut.  In return we have taught them some things, but the real joy comes from the exchange of basic skills, the thrill of discovery, and the knowledge that all people are really the same.

We all love our families and worry about where the next meal will be coming from.  We give thanks for all that we have.  Thats really what this trip is about, isn't it?  Taking care of yourself and your family while making sure to give thanks for the many blessings that you do have, not wasting time on things that have been or could be.

If life is what is happening right now, then I do need to say thank you for some things... this amazing world I live in, the wonderful people that surround me, fresh ideas, endless inspiration, past and future adventures, the love of my friends and family, and the knowledge that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing.  What a truly amazing day.  Enjoy yours.

  1. beautiful artwork and your studio looks so inviting. what an adventurous life you both live. Thanks for sharing it with us!

  2. You are living the life I dream of. How fascinating it must be, to visit people and experience their culture. I've never sailed, but I love the ocean. (and I live in Minnesota)
You go girl! I will look forward to hearing more about your travels. very cool art.

  3. Thanks for the wonderful comments. We are set to go sailing soon, hence the rush of work we've been doing. I will keep everyone updated.
